ALERT: Major Supermarket Chains Forced to Pay Damages to Local Residents Amid Price-Fixing Scandal
New program being rolled out to help victims claim their share of settlement pool
A recent court ruling found that between 2015 - 2023, major retailers such as Walmart and Costco were deemed to have inflated the price of goods such as eggs, chicken and canned tuna. As a penalty, they are being forced to pay out $175 million in compensation to those affected.
Authorities have urged local residents to check whether they are eligible to claim a share of the settlement, with reports circulating that a whopping 73% of the settlement pool hasn’t been distributed yet.
According to a legal expert, most settlement pools in class-action lawsuits at this scale are never fully allocated due to the victims either not being properly informed of their involvement, or the victims not being able to deal with the complexity of the claim process.
A new program seeks to solve this problem by making the claim & distribution process easy for Americans. Users are notified when they appear in a class-action settlement and the funds can be claimed straight away through the platform.
Early adopters are claiming settlement shares from lawsuits they never knew they were involved in. Even going back decades.
“I had no idea I was owed this money,” says Susan T., 48. “Since making the claims, I’ve been receiving a cheque of $1,280 in the mail every month. It’s not life-changing money, but it covers my car payment.”
